Pretty soon thousands of home sellers will be breaking the news:

“I’m filing for Divorce.” I am re-posting a blog 3 Part Blog I wrote on Real Estate and Divorce.

More and more, I’ve had clients and friends approach me with questions about what happens in the course of divorce regarding the real estate involved.  Unfortunately, the sobering divorce statistics support how often I am posed with these questions. That is what led me to start the “Divorce and Real Estate: An Unfortunate Combination” blog series. While I was writing these blogs, a recent Houston Real Estate Radio episode was aired that was quite germane to this topic.

In the previous installments, I discussed the importance of finding a realtor who has an established record of assisting divorcing clients in reaching the best resolution specific to their situation. I concentrated primarily on situations that dealt with the simpler community property scenarios. While several other situations exist, the prevalent one consists of one spouse owning one or more properties prior to the marriage.  The following episode describes this and several other similar topics.

Once again, should you or one of your clients find themselves facing divorce please don’t hesitate to contact me either through Facebook or by phone @ 281.798.4599.
